About
Jesus La Rosa
Biography

Born in Cuba and raised in Miami, attorney Jesus La Rosa started his career off strong by attending the nationally recognized University of Iowa, College of Law, on a full-tuition scholarship. Having been inspired by his own experience migrating to the United Stated (a journey that meant he lived in Venezuela for several years), he studied immigration law as an elective and spent time as a student practitioner and interpreter for Iowa Law’s legal clinic. While at Iowa Law, Mr. La Rosa also distinguished himself as an adept legal writer both by earning the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence in Legal Analysis, Writing and Research I (for writing the most comprehensive memo among his peers) and by serving as Associate Editor for the school’s journal on Transnational Law and Contemporary Problems (an international and comparative law journal).
Mr. La Rosa’s legal interests, going beyond immigration law, include corporate and business law. For that reason, he also doubled up on business-law related courses. His performance on those courses landed him an early position as a Law Clerk for Principal Financial Group (a fortune 250 company) where he successfully completed projects in the fields of commercial litigation, governance, compliance, pensions and IRAs, real estate, securities, trusts, insurance, and international commercial contracts. In his private practice, Mr. La Rosa remains passionate about start-ups and helps founders with entity formation, tax status issues, and small business strategic planning.
